Welcome to the Bay Area Vipassana Center
The Bay Area Vipassana Center organizes adult and children’s Vipassana meditation courses and meditation sittings as taught by S. N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. To learn more about this tradition and courses offered throughout California, please visit our About Vipassana page.
Currently in the San Francisco Bay Area, there is no residential Vipassana meditation retreat center in the tradition of S.N. Goenka. All meditation activities in the area are offered at rented facilities. The Bay Area Vipassana Center non-profit organization was formed in 2015 to consolidate the efforts and funds for all of the Vipassana activities in the area and to run the non-center 10-day course in Occidental during the winter holidays. The Board has formed a search committee to begin the process of finding and establishing a residential retreat center with the hope of offering regular 10-day courses in the coming years in the Bay Area.
